DBA would like to congratulate Robyn Maher on her amazing achievement of her induction into the FIBA Hall of Fame Class of 2022!
Robyn played for the DABA (Dandenong Amateur Basketball Association) women’s team in the late 70s under coach Charlie Wilson. Robyn was in her mid-teens and lived in Ballarat at the time where she caught the train down to Dandenong Station and then walked from the station to the old Dandenong Market Stadium playing on a Wednesday night.
Robyn was selected for multiple state teams in her time at Dandenong and played for multiple years until she joined the Melbourne Telstars in the WNBL for a season and later joining the Nunawading Spectres where her husband, Tom Maher was the head coach.
As we all know, Robyn then went on to accomplish many achievements including a three-time Olympian where she was a member of the national women’s team that won the bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.
Congratulations Robyn, well deserved recognition of an amazing career!
